Frequently asked questions
Does midiflow pro include instruments?
Yes. The built-in midiflow Sampler includes five basic sounds, loads SFZ instruments and lets Claude build instruments from your own samples. You can also use compatible VST3 and AU instruments and effects installed on your Mac. Third-party plug-ins, sample libraries and their licences are separate.
Is the audio rendered in the cloud?
No. midiflow pro renders audio locally on your Mac, using your instruments and effects or the built-in sampler.
Where do I listen to a take?
The Code tab in Claude Desktop can show a player in the conversation. In desktop Chat or Claude Code in a terminal, ask Claude to play the take on your Mac, or open the audio file. Setup and playback depend on the client.
Will every preset in every instrument work?
Serum 2 and Spire have dedicated preset support. With other instruments, access to presets and parameters depends on the plug-in.
Is this a DAW or a live instrument?
midiflow pro renders and mixes up to 16 tracks, with instruments, effects, levels and panning controlled through Claude. Export the mix, stems and MIDI to continue in your DAW. It does not control your DAW or play instruments live.
What happens when the free trial budget runs out?
You can keep listening to takes while they remain in midiflow pro’s 24-hour internal storage, and browse instruments and presets. Export files you want to keep. Further rendering requires a licence; there is no deadline to use the trial budget.
How does Claude assess a take?
midiflow pro gives Claude measurements of loudness, tone, stereo and note audibility. Claude uses these to compare changes; this is not listening to the take. You listen and make the musical decisions.
